About the CPT Program
Funded by New York State Department of Health, the CPT Program is an education and training program designed to build up the health, behavioral health, and social care workforce.
This program funds education and training that focuses on career advancement and recruitment to create a reliable workforce pipeline to address workforce shortages throughout the state.
The CPT Program targets high-demand shortage areas, reduces barriers to career advancement, and supports marginalized and underrepresented communities to enter and advance in the health workforce.
The CPT Program is divided into two career pipelines:
- Career Advancement for individuals currently in health, behavioral health, and social care.
- New Careers for those newly entering the health workforce.

CPT Program participants must complete their training or educational program by Spring 2027.
Additionally, CPT Program participants will be required to make a three-year commitment of service to work full time, in one of 13 eligible job titles, with a New York State provider enrolled in the Medicaid program that serve at least 30 percent of Medicaid members and/or uninsured individuals. This service commitment must be completed by 2031.

All CPT Program participants will receive:
- Application and Enrollment Assistance
- Tuition Coverage
- Educational Case Management
- Tutoring Services
- Apprenticeship and Mentorship
- Employment Placement
