Career Pathways Training Program

The Career Pathways Training Program (CPT Program) is a workforce investment under the New York Health Equity Reform 1115 Waiver to strengthen the healthcare workforce.

The CPT Program is designed to build up the healthcare and allied healthcare workforce by funding training and education that focus on career advancement and recruitment to create a reliable workforce pipeline to address workforce shortages throughout the state. The CPT Program will target high-demand shortage areas, reduce barriers to career advancement, and support marginalized and underrepresented communities in entering and advancing in the health workforce.

It will be divided into two career pipelines:

  • Healthcare Career Advancement for individuals currently in the healthcare workforce
  • New Careers in Healthcare for those newly entering the healthcare workforce.

CPT Program participants will be required to make a three-year commitment of service, in the new professional title, to providers enrolled in the Medicaid program that serve at least 30 percent of Medicaid members and/or uninsured individuals.
